As a family-run vineyard and winery, our operations are intimate and hands on from picking, to pressing, to pouring.
Alexeli (pronounced “alex el-ee”) is nestled along the western foothills of the Cascade Mountains, in Oregon’s beautiful East Willamette Valley. A short 45 minute drive south of the Portland Metro area, our vineyard and winery offers a casual backyard feel with serene views of the countryside.
We take pride in raising healthy fruit for handcrafted estate wines. We hope that our wines encourage the simple act of bringing people together.
Our operations are intimate and hands on from picking to pressing to pouring. We believe that the hard work that comes with wine-making can be an enriching experience and we enjoy sharing our stories with our community of friends, family, neighbors and patrons. As we continue to grow, we strive to expand in the areas of sustainability, community work parties and education—teaching patience and respect for mother nature.
Alexeli vineyard is home to Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Muller-Thurgau European grape varietals, planted in 1980 and 1981. A small plot of Syrah was also planted in 2012. Our vines are own rooted and cane pruned on a high wire system to increase sun and wind exposure, thus creating a preventative disease control system that has enabled us to control disease with just sulfur and oils. We value sustainable practices on our vineyard and have achieved LIVE certification.

Meet Our Family
Co-owner, winemaker and vineyard manager, Phil is our fix-it, solve-it, build-it, hands-on project man, involved with every step of the process here at Alexeli.
Phil attended RPI for his undergrad in engineering and the University of Illinois at Chicago for his masters in Urban Planning and Design. Throughout his education, he spent time learning and working in sustainable agriculture. After several years working as an urban planner in Chicago and Philadelphia, Phil’s passion for farming called him to Oregon.
Vineyard management and wine-making have been self-taught skills since then and he is both inspired and humbled by the craft and challenges of caring for the grapes in every stage of winemaking. Phil is also the head winemaker for Coopers Hall Winery in Portland, a venture for which he is also a partner.
Heidi adopted the rural life of Alexeli in 2011 and especially enjoys time spent caring for the tasting room gardens and photographing the seasons of the vineyard, winery and homestead.
Heidi is a freelance photographer and digital storyteller and travels around the Pacific Northwest to document love and life. She attended RIT for a BFA in Photojournalism before working as a photojournalist in daily newspapers in Kansas, Nebraska and Washington and then as the Manager of Multimedia at Pacific University in Oregon. Elora, Ani + WESLEY Kramer
We added three assistants to the Alexeli team in 2014, 2015 and 2017. We do it all for them and they support us by taste-testing their weight in grapes during harvest.
You'll likely be asked to help with their chalk murals if you visit the tasting room on a sunny day.
